2011 was the year I never imagined would come.  The year I would graduate from High School.  There are landmark events in everyone’s life that when you look to them as they are in the future, you never imagine they will actually happen, however, once they are in the past, there’s this indescribable feeling of accomplishment.  The first “moment” was in seventh grade when I had to write my first research paper on Veronica Lake, I hated writing.  Now, almost 5 years later, I love writing and I realized that love because of this blog and because of you, the readers.

However, before I move on to 2011, before I make one of the biggest changes in my life, I want to reflect on 2010.  Oh what a year…

January was filled with some amazing creations, from Milk Chocolate Pretzel Tart to my Puff Pastry S’mores I entered into a contest and then there was some being surrounded  by books as I studied for Midterms but Pudding Parfaits kept me going…

February consisted of hosting a bakesale to raise money for Haiti and going to Florida to watch my Grandpa receive a super awesome award for being super and well awesome.  Oh and I kept with my obsession of tarts and made a rustic one…chocolate for the soul :)

March I got a new camera AND went to junior prom! I also made truffles out of Thin Mint cookies.  I am still asked for more of those constantly…

April was one AMAZING month. I traveled to Italy and ate my way through every gelato flavor and then I returned home to an delicious birthday cake for my 17th birthday.  Oh and I also met Hungry Girl.

May I journeyed to Wisconsin to watch my sister talk a walk…no, not down the aisle but to receive her diploma…from COLLEGE! She’s a smartie, despite her name (Dumbblondie) I also made cookie that would become my “most baked” (by me) recipe: The Chocolate Chip Pretzel Cookie.  What can I say, I’m a sucker for sweet and salty.  Oh and apparently people love these brownies because they are my MOST VIEWED POST!

June I turned the best coffee cake into something so much more…there was a mouse filling.  I also went to Senior prom and wore a sparkly dress.

July was a very good month.  I turned one…I mean my COOKTEEN the BLOG turned ONE and I made a red velvet cake to commemorate it. I alsohad a lovely fourth of July dinner at my house, tye-dye frosting was involved.  Two note-worthy cookie recipes were produced Oatmeal (C)raisin and Nutella Filled Mocha Shortbread.

August as summer began to close and field hockey season began Ihad a minor failure in my first attempt with browned butter and visiting Boston. You should make Cinnamon Sugar Donut Muffins.  I must go bake more to win over a certain someone 😉 (kidding…maybe)

September My blog became a website! I switched from Blogger to WordPress and became

October meant Halloween which meant Witches High Hat cupcakes and candy corn inspired cake. I also made these pumpkin bars and proceeded to eat a majority of the pan in one sitting and ran a 5K race, my FIRST race for that matter!

November I ran a 15K and survived! I also created a delicious black bean burger and made Pumpkin Butter I took to the face by the spoonful.

And lastly December, what a whirlwind month! I made a birthday cake for my grandma and then lightened it up with a healthy bananananananana bread. I also witness everything I have worked for the past few years culminate into something that like I said in the beginning, is indescribable.

College seemed light years away but it isn’t and as I begin to wonder what I am going to do with my blog in college, I begin to realize that there is no way I could imagine ending this.  People are constantly asking me that since I am into college am I going to stop the blog? But what they don’t know is that I didn’t start Cookteen to get into school, I started it to express myself through baking, writing and photography.  My answer to them, is simply a look of amazement at how they could even ask such a silly question and saying that I did not blog for college or for anyone else, but for myself.

I love that you have such a great record of 2010. I hop eyou manage the same for 2011 as it will be a fabulous, confusing, fantastic multiplier of 10. I just want you to be present for where you are and then worry about where you’re headed. You’re significantly more together than I was at your age so I’m not at all worried, I just think you have good things ahead and you should greet them by name as you meet them, if you can. Can’t wait to find out where you’ll end up!
